Itinerary

A weekend on the Hobart waterfront, hour by hour

The Friday-to-Sunday itinerary our concierge writes most often — market mornings, a MONA crossing, the cellar at dusk and one very good table.

Sullivan's Cove at first light

Friday: arrive without thinking

Land before 15:00 if you can — the airport valet has you at the porte-cochère inside half an hour, and check-in at OZ Elements is a signature and a glass of something cold. Do nothing until 18:00; the estate is designed to decompress you.

At civil dusk, walk the pier. Friday is the jazz trio, and the golden-hour cocktail list exists only while the light lasts. Dinner at the counter if you booked ahead — Table 12 is the best seat on the island.

Saturday: the market, then the museum

Salamanca Market starts at 08:30 and our chef's stall map is at the desk — follow it and you'll eat breakfast standing up, which is correct. Back at the hotel by 11:00 for the tender to MONA; twenty-five minutes up-river beats the ferry queue entirely.

Return by 17:30 and descend to the vault. The sommelier's Saturday flight ends with a pour from the locked cabinet, and dinner follows wherever the appetite points — the revolving floor is the romantic answer.

We didn't look at a map once in three days. That's what a concierge is for.

Sunday: altitude, then appetite

The dawn run up kunanyi leaves at 06:40 with coffee in the console. You're back by ten for a late breakfast on the terrace — the ricotta hotcakes are non-negotiable.

Checkout is 11:00 but nobody hurries you. Leave bags with the desk, take the pool's quiet hour, and let the valet time the return to your flight rather than the reverse.

The short version

Friday: pier, jazz, counter dinner. Saturday: Salamanca, MONA by tender, vault flight, revolving floor. Sunday: mountain dawn, terrace breakfast, one last swim.

Every element books through the concierge — one message produces the whole weekend.

Two quick answers

Yes — send your dates and this article; the desk returns a costed plan inside the day.
The museum rests Tuesdays; the itinerary flexes to the galleries, the garden walk or a longer lunch.
